Just think with full exhaust, and 93 octane... 600rwhp with albs of boost. :)

Haha but yea, I think in a few years after the parts really start coming out, and tuners get hold of the computers etc. we're gunna see some really impressive numbers with much less modifications than it took us to get there.
I am really interested to see what the new V6 can do, I know everyone is still crapping their pants about 5.0 but I see very little about what the 3.7L can do with similar modifications, because I think the numbers there are going to be a lot of fun too.

The 3.7 ain't gonna be no slouch either. Procharger's announced a system that plans HP gains of over 170.

The GT500 has more cubes and comes forged from the factory. Mod for mod when the motors are built up, the GT500 will win, and 5.0 tech options have been available for some time for them. There are oil squirters and aluminum blocks available (and the price is more affordable than you think) for the 500s. They come from the factory with low CR which is why you see the KR.
The 11's are dominating and truly awesome cars. But think twice....
I once made the mistake when I was running 11.7 and 11.8 at 13lbs of boost with my built V6 comparing to then the new 500's, thinking my car was a better value (ET wise that is). And quickly learned after I saw what they were putting to the pavement. Though I did kill a few stock ones.

For those of you interested in Dynos, stock block 500s see 750-800 with a fat tune easy due to them being forged and low CR.

Joey I think you are correct. They seem to be reliable with good tuning till the 700ish rwhp area. I have known a couple of windowed blocks running KBs past the 750 rwhp with decent tuning. The GT500 is a superior car. Their downfall is heat soak. That can be addressed with improved cooling.
The only real advantage to the 5.0 is the heads flow better than 5.4 stock. I outran stock GT500s with my 06 and Whipple. A good driver and a couple of mods and it was a totally different story.

I was just saying, the difference in insurance and showroom cost...save that money, slap a Procharger on it, and spend the rest on suspension and appearance mods and be done with it.
I'm more of a road course/autox guy, and the weight of the 5.4 still kind of kills the deal for me. Even with the diet that Ford put it on this year, it's still heavier than the 5.0 and it shows when you put it under heavy loads. That's not to say that it's a slouch, because it still outran the M3 at VIR, but still...I think there's a reason Ford based the Boss 302 off of the 5.0 rather than the heavier 5.4.
To me, a 5.0 with the Brembo package, a Procharger and some suspension mods...it'd be a beast.

LOL, because then it would be a Boss 329. So the weight of the 5.4 is the deal killer for you? Not the fact you're 17 and couldn't possibly afford one? lol:006:

Because then it would be the gt500. The fact is that .4 of a litre is more room for air and fuel so more power.

Holy crap, derpaderp on my part.
Also, I can't afford a Geo Metro right now, so it's all hypothetical.
And I'm saying that if I had fifty grand at my disposal, I'm going with a 5.0 and spending the extra money on mods.

I still think I'd take a built Coyote over a stock 5.4 for the weight and valve train advancements. Over all cost would probably be much the same, but having a 1000+ HP capable 302 would be something to talk about.
I'm at the end of the reasonable cost road with the 6 so within a year it's going to be decision time... swap to a 3.7 and build it up or get a 5.0... or maybe both. I still hate the body but we were going to start 302 hunting in the spring until we discovered we need half the roof replaced due to ice damming. :089:

I would take a 2011 GT500 hands down. Dont forget a couple of things....dry sump oil system, stiffer chassis and the fact the the supercharger adds quite a bit of weight to these cars. hell...my E-Force supercharger added 105 lbs to my GT and thats without the engine covers! You slap a blower on the 302 and your weight is going to be up there too!

And guys, for the record, it's freaking hyperbole. Of course I want a GT500, I'm just saying that for a lot of applications, the 5.0 is more practical.

I'd still take a GT500 because of its ability to make alot alot of power on the stock block, With the 5.0s CR You are limited until you start swapping stuff out in the motor...

Yeah, that compression ratio is worries the hell out of me for f/i...
but I still think 5-6 psi would be perfectly safe and still put down over 500rwhp!

I might get flamed here... but I've gotta go with the 5.0.
Take away the boost and how much HP will the 4v 5.4L give you? I don't know... I've been wondering myself. The amount of boost the GT500 run (after break-in) is 8.5-9.0lbs.
Here's some rough math:
14.6 341
----- = ----
23.1 540
The above calculation has 14.6 being normal air pressure (assuming you're at sea level), and 23.1 being the air pressure after adding 8.5lbs of boost. Stock HP (after break-in) is 540 to the crank.
So without boost, you can roughly say the GT500 is worth about 341 crank HP. Compare that to the 5.0L and the results are simply a more efficient engine. The 5.0L has tech the 5.4L simply doesn't. Yeah, it may have a dry sump oil system, but it will be tough to make that engine do the same as the 5.0. That's not to mention, you can get into a 5.0 and put in forged pistons and slap an F1A/C Procharger on it and make a shitload more power than the GT500.
What the GT500 has going for it is a recent drop in price, styling/badging, and better suspension (so I'm told... haven't really looked into it). Performance-wise, we're looking at suspension. Who keeps stock suspension?

i love the gt500 and the new 5.0 but when it omes down to it you can keep them both and ill take that money and build a stroked 351 to say 460 ci add 20 psi and have fun even seeing my tail lights lol

I believe your calculations are just about spot-on.
The SVT Raptor used the same 5.4 as the 07-10 GT500s, correct? If that's the case, the Raptor was making 365 HP at the crank without the blower. [source (http://news.pickuptrucks.com/2010/04/first-drive-review-2010-6-2-liter-v-8-ford-f150-svt-raptor.html)]
Figure 10-15% drivetrain loss from that, and you're getting around 328 to the wheels.
Of course, I'm not completely sure if that's the same powerplant...but it is good food for thought.

The Raptor either came in the 5.4 3v or more recently the 6.2. It did not have a GT500 engine.
