As some of us talked about yesterday here is the bowling thread. It was interesting to find out that more than a few Collective members are avid bowlers....guess we got to do something in the winter when we can't drive our cars.

Anyway as I said I do run a free standing Pro Shop as a side business....actually its more of a hobby since if it was a business i would actually be trying to make money at it. If i can help any of my fellow Collective members out just give me a shout.

Here are a few pics of the shop.

My equipment will date me, but I have 3 custom drilled Columbia Yellow Dots in my arsenal (all bought new in 1980). I used to carry a 210 avg when I was on the high school team and even managed to roll 4 300 games back in the day. The town I grew up in used to have a small alley (20 lanes) and I pretty much lived there when I was in high school. Rotator cuff injuries have kept me off the lanes for a long time now, but I still do a few games a year, just to say I did.

I love bowling. It's one of the few "sports" (lol) I consider myself ok at. It's been about a year since I bowl last since I'm not in my old league anymore, though. Ju and I are going tonight. Hopefully can get back into it again.

The last bowling I did was at the Cadieux Cafe in Detroit, it is called "feather bowling". The lanes are dirt, there is a feather at the opposite end, the balls are rounded pieces of wood (so uneven) and the idea is to get the ball closest to the feather at the other end.

It was a lot of fun actually.

Sounds like some sort of ball version of horseshoes or shuffleboard. heh

It was more like that ice game (can't think of the name of it now for some reason) where you throw the stone to the circle at the other end - with the guys with the brooms helping it slide across the ice.

Curling is what you're thinking of. Come on, Jim. You're near the icy domain of Canada. Shouldn't you know curling? lol. ;)

Just wanted to let everyone know that I bowled a 159 on Monday!

I finally have my own ball and shoes, so I can get consistent and throw a little bit of a curve.

Throwing a curve with a ball that is made to fit your hand is way easier and way more fun! I had a great time.

Way to go Juliette!! Having your own properly fitted equipment makes a huge difference.

Good shooting Mike! Glad the Storm IQ worked out for you. That has been a very good ball this year. Storm really hit a home run with that one.

I bowl for fun, no custom balls for me lol. 269 high, 180ish average. I know if I had something more than a plastic houseball I could do better.
