View Full Version : Accident... Suggestions?

So unfortunetly last friday, I got into a rear end collision. And even worse the fact that I was the one doing the rear-ending. It was a right turn lane, someone was stopped ahead of me in the lane, at night, it rained earlier, then froze, so it was icy, and then to top it off I have recently been having the hand brake freezing problems. Because of this, i bent my rotors in the rear and all of the brake pads are bald ( from having to drive with the e-brake on ). So tommorrow I was taking it to the dealer. But. With the combination of ice, bad brake pad and bent rotors, I failed to stop in time even when the brake was already fully applied.
It sucks. :090:
Especially because im under 18. Insurance will have a field day now.
But anyway, I try to look at the positive side of things. With my chin spoiler bent and cracked, I know i will definitly need a new chin spoiler. I had GT fogs installed in the car and I did some modifying to the fascia to fit it in. Instead of having to re-mod a new V6 chin spoiler to fit the GT grille, what do you think about using a GT chin spoiler instead? The repair shop has already said it was possible they can order a GT chin spoiler and install it instead of a V6 at no additional cost. So it's all about looks and work.
So basically. I have the opportunity to put on a GT chin spoiler rather than a V6 one.
I understand there is detailing on the bottom of the chin spoiler that doesn't match the V6 body styling perfectly, but if I use the GT chin spoiler it would save me a lot of time modifying the fascia again. So im just looking for opinions guys  Anything would be greatly appreciated.

Get a lawyer, sue Ford + your Insurance carrier + the car you hit's Insurance carrier + the Municipality who didn't maintain the frozen road surface and keep it in the courts. That will protect your rights, keep your insurance rates from going up and place the "blame" where it needs to be.
Give your attorney all the ammunition he needs to help you with respect to the e-brake freezing issues. Take LOTSA pictures.
Good luck

Thankfully you are okay.
If you have had your car in previously for the e-brake...get all your paperwork in order and get a lawyer.

Glad you are okay. NOW YOU CAN DANCE!:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

I would bring the issue up with Ford as well considering you do not have bakes left on the rear of your car. Glad no one was hurt.

Sorry to hear about your misshap, and I am glad you are ok
The front gt bumper with black rocker panels looks nasty.........
The GT bumper is designed to flow at the lower level with the bottom of the car and the rear bumper molding...... Go with a six front or get the rest of the kit.

I can see getting Ford involved because of the frozen E-brake issue, but why sue the poor bastard he hit? It wasn't his fault he got rear ended; what advise would you give him if he was the one who got hit? Telling a 17 year old kid to blame everyone else for something that is essentially his fault is not a good way to enter adulthood. Accountability should be the lesson learned. Get a lawyer, sue Ford + your Insurance carrier + the car you hit's Insurance carrier + the Municipality who didn't maintain the frozen road surface and keep it in the courts. Hey guys thanks for the advice.
I'm looking into seeing what chances I have if I went to court and blamed my brakes. Or at least my dad and uncle are considering that idea. Being 17... im still learning lol.
As for the car and such, it's going for repairs this tuesday and I need to decide by then what I plan on doing with the side skirts and chin spoiler.
My repair shop i've known for awhile and said they would be willing to put in a GT chin spoiler at no extra cost (nothing new yet) but unfortunetly they said they won't be able to put it on if the tabs and clips and holes don't line up...
Basically they don't want to be modifying anything to fit anything else. So, my question to you guys is how well does the GT chin spiler fit on on V6'ers?
But seriously, thanks for the help, I wouldn't have considered taking legal action until I read your responses, so thanks again.

As an attorney let me just say I hope all of those recommending lawsuits never blame lawyers any more for this litigious society. Perhaps if this young driver had been paying attention on an "icy, rainy, night" he would not have caused an accident. The brakes not withstanding, if they were dangerous and he was "taking the car in tomorrow" then he should not have been driving until they were repaired. To add insult to injury look at his YouToob posting where he drives like a madman on a street where he could hit other cars, people, etc.
Street racing and driving like a madman is dangerous and should never be done. Don't blame the lawyers when you injure another person.
Perhaps this will teach this young driver to pay attention and be more safe.
p.s., not only will his insurance rates go up but all of ours will as a result of dangerous and careless driving on the part of others.

I agree with you for the most part. I wouldn't call my driving reckless... just because im 17 doesn't mean im a reckless driver. and I wouldn't call my youtube video reckless either. I doubt you know where i did it, and btw it wasn't on 'some street' where I could hit pedestrians. And most of us here would agree with me, we aren't mad men that love to go street racing, we just love our cars, and we're here to help people with their problems.
And i never blamed a lawyer for anything... my uncle is one, and i respect him greatly. I'm not a madman. I'm a kid that made a mistake. So sorry for raising everyone's insurance rates as you claim we do.
I don't really plan on taking this matter to court. I screwed up, I know it, I was just asking for suggestion about car mods. Nothing more. Although I greatly appreciate the responses and ideas about my accident, I was just asking whether it would be a good or bad idea to put a GT chin spoiler on a V6.
But, sorry for the confusion. I really do appreciate the responses though.

Alright well apart from all the arguing, I would love to wrap up this problem with one last request.
I would love to know what you guys think of this (below):
(I decided to go with the GT Chin Spoiler, but add a twist to make my car different, and paint the bottom black, to match the V6 rockers)
Any opinions you guys have would be amazing..

I agree, that does look better, but i don't want to go out and buy the side skirts and rear bumper for my car just to match. Also, im quite content with the MRT single exhaust I have right now, and with that kit, I would need to get duals, which is more money.
But I'll look into it, it DOES look better, it's just a lot more work/money

I like it its unique, and then later on down the road buy the Gt rear and paint the bottom lip black to match the front bumper and side skirts, Ive seen someone do it and it looks pretty good.
