@ fazm & cardude99
Hope I can get you set up pretty soon. Don't forget that this will require 4:10 gears minimum or you will be going 200MPH in sixth gear and your burnouts won't be quite as impressive.
The most expensive part is going to be the adaptor plate and I should find out later this week or early next week what the material and plasma cut will cost. The plan is to use 1/2 steel. Aluminum would be nice but would need to be thicker and the price of plate aluminum is astronomical right now. The weight shouldn't be to bad because it will be designed with the center removed and lightning holes where permitted. I will be doing the machining myself. I won't know about the cross member until I get my transmission to see if I can modify a stock one to work or need to fab one.
I almost screwed up and bought me TR6060 from Steeda. They did not have one in stock and told me that no one in the country hand any available until mid June! I call D&D performance and they had them in stock and for $200 cheaper and they also had the GT500 cross member for $75 cheaper.
So a simple rundown on parts will look something like this.
I will supply you with:
1. Adaptor plate and nuts and bolts.
2. Flywheel spacer and new longer bolts.
Edit: The current shipping design uses works with no spacer required.
3. New flywheel pilot bearing and sleeve.
3. Cross member (may be modified Ford part or custom, don't know yet)
4. Special starter gear.
Edit: The current shipping design uses the stock starter with no special gear required.
5. Starter spacer.
Edit: The current shipping design uses the stock starter with no spacer required.
6. Shifter (Could be a modified Ford racing one or MGW. I am talking to MGW tomorrow to see how they are coming on the GT500 shifter. Their design lends itself to easily being modified for our application. Hopefully MGW may be able to supply this preconfigured.
You will supply:
1. Transmission - Either a TR3650 or a TR6060.
2. Shortened driveshaft.
3. 4:10 gears if your are using a TR6060.
4. Ford starter from a 2002 - 2005 Thunderbird (the gear needs changed but this is very simple and only require removing a C-clip on the end of the shaft and pulling off the gear and replacing it with the one I will provide).
Edit: The current shipping design uses the stock starter.
5. Clutch disc with 26 count spline if you are using the TR6060. Available from Spec or any of the other clutch manufactures.
4. Modified mounting points on your exhaust system.
Edit: Not required.
If you are using the TR6060 you will need to wire the reverse lockout solenoid to the brakes or a switch somewhere. Possibly shifter mounted.
If you want to use an aluminum flywheel this kit should work fine just by ordering one for a stock V6.
I probably missed something like the connector for the reverse lock out but this is just to show approximately what your swap will entail.
