I mostly finished setting up the TR6060 today.
I found that the backup light connector on the TR6060 is male and the one in the V6 wiring harness is also male. I found the correct blank pigtail at a local auto parts store and configured is with female pins. There were some very small silicone seals around the wires in the original pigtail so I gently removed them and used them on the new one.
I routed the wires for the reverse lockout switch through the tunnel next to the shifter then under the console then under the passenger side rear seat where I tapped into the wire for the center brake light.
The starter solenoid is pretty close to the exhaust manifold so I wrapped the starter with a starter heat shield.
All of the O2 sensors clear but as mentioned in an earlier post I had to relocate the two front ones.
I reinstalled my CHE K-Member brace without the torque limiters because the ones used with the T5 are to long. I will make new ones next week and reinstall them at that time.
I made a custom bracket for the rear shifter mount the fits the urethane bushing that comes with it correctly since it is unavailable from Ford as a separate piece.
The driveshaft fits correctly and the pinion angle looks good.
The only outstanding part needed is the plate that covers the hole where the shifter comes through. I will get that coming next week.
OK now the fun news!
I was getting very tired when it was time to fire it up. I forgot all about wanting to hear if anything weird sounding came from the starter. I remember after have it running for about five minutes so needless to say the starter works perfectly and sounds just like it did before even though it is a completely different type of starter and mounts totally differently.
Reverse lockout works as is should when stepping on the brakes.
The clutch makes a little noise only when in neutral and the clutch is out. Kind of reminds me of what the original stock clutch sounded like. I think the release bearing may lightly touch the clutch release forks and make that noise. Don't know for sure but will keep an eye on it in case it is something else. If you push the clutch in or are in gear and driving there is no noise at all.
This TR6060 shifts as smoooooooth as silk.
What an absolutely awesome 1000 percent difference! The Ford Racing shifter I used shifts even shorter then my old Hurst shifter but with virtually no effort at all! I don't get the 4:10s installed until Monday so it is kind of weird to drive with such high gears ratios. Even so I notice a much better pull from second to third. I can't wait to see what that is like with the 4:10s.
I will be posting some photos in the next day or two.
