Any body thought of trying to swap a Lincoln ls or jaguar s-type motor in the mustang - 10-21-2010

Just courious I know they share pretty much the same chassis as the s197. Would be some thing different especially if you could get the 4.2 supercharged one with 390hp. Let me know if any body has tried it or thinks it would or would not.

If you've got the means and the time, pretty much any engine swap is possible.

I've never seen this swap before, though.

y? The LS V6 was comparable to the 4.0 in power and the only S-Type engine worth its salt was the 4.2L V8 at 300hp. The 4.6L already has 300hp and is an easy swap. Supercharge either the 4.0 or the 4.6 and you've got either close to or more power than the super'd version of 4.2L. Not worth the time, energy, and more importantly...money...

I figured with the power to weight ratio would be better since the 3.9-4.2 moters are all aluminum and 4v engines they could make good power despite having smaller displacement than the 4.6 or 5.4. I know the build would be more expensive than the other builds but it would be pretty cool to see someone try it. I would also assume that would make the mustang damn near perfect 50/50 weight distribution and while you had the car apart would be nice to see if the 18gallon gas tank would fit instead of the 16 gal.

That would have more to do with your cars weight and chassis vs a mid-sized luxury sedan. Also if it was a 00-02 it had 250horsepower and 252 torques. The 03-06 Engine made 280 Horsepower and 285 torque, while also being lighter, put that same engine in another 05+ Mustang and it would walk all over a stock V6. I would also like to point out that our cars use the same transmission as these engines.

But seriously if your going to do some crazy swap like that you might as well go all out and just swap in either a new 5.0 motor through a wreck. It would probably be slightly easier project, at least that motor will fit out chassis, its also lighter and better built. Oh yeah something about an extra 125 horse power or something with that motor, and waaaaaay more aftermarket parts.

But if there was one swap I could do I would shoehorn a BMW 5.0L 500 Horsepower V10 and 7 speed smg tranny, and do some high way rolls.
